Indian Healthcare system

Population of India is currently 1.2 billion and is increasing at a 2% annual rate. By 2030, India is expected to surpass China as the world's most populous nation. Nearly three quarters of the population still lives in rural areas, and as of 2004, an estimated 27.5% of Indians were living below the national poverty line.

Some 300 million people in India live on less than a dollar a day, and more than 50% of all children are malnourished. India needs 74,150 community health centers per million population but has less than half that number.

“Being unwanted, unloved, uncared for, forgotten by everybody, I think that is a much greater hunger, a much greater poverty than the person who has nothing to eat."

~ Mother Teresa ~
